God Loves To Save The Most Despicable Kinds Of People

The Privacy of righteousness

Matthew 5:10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Righteousness is simply seeking and behaving according to what God has determined His standards for living are for His children.  Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:10 that we are blessed if we are persecuted because of living those standards.  The life of a Christian living a life that seeks to please God will be an affront to those who have chosen to live differently.  Christian living clashes with how the secular world lives.  It collides clearly and abruptly with those who do not seek to please God or to live righteously.  These two groups of people are on paths going in opposite directions.  It is similar to a car headed north on the southbound freeway during rush hour- it is not likely going to be a journey without a lot of honking and fist waving by the southbound drivers.

Many people believe that you should keep your “righteousness” to yourself, keep it at your “church”, don’t talk about it or act It out. After all, it is offensive to others and is intolerant to the views they may have.  In this beatitude that Jesus gives us, He fully expects us to live righteously and He fully expects us to be persecuted for it.  He does not say hide, cower, don’t engage the culture.  He commands us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him not privately but publicly.  We are to be His witnesses to all the earth. And we will be persecuted, mocked, harassed, teased, and at some point even tortured just as Christians in China and other non-Christian countries experience.  And for that we will be blessed.

The unrighteous stand for world system.  They oppose Jesus Christ.  You cannot love Jesus and love the world- He said so.  You cannot serve two masters because you will love the one and hate the other- He said so..  Those who have embraced the world hate it when the righteous stand up and live out what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. As we continue to see here in the United States, there is little tolerance for such behavior as public prayer in His name, displays of His Ten Commandments, reading of His word in public places, or having His name on our money.  The world system led by Satan is systematically “ridding” this nation of the name of God.  One of our presidential candidates even said the U. S. is no longer Just a Christian nation and I am afraid he is right.

For those who have been saved by the power and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, live out your faith.  Do not be intimidated by anyone.  Live so that people see Jesus Christ in your every day life- you may be the closest thing to Jesus they will ever know.  Don’t go underground with your faith in Him.  Let your righteous living be like the clapper of the liberty bell.  That bell does not make a sound if the clapper does not strike the inside of the bell.  In this country you have a right to privacy guaranteed in our constitution.    In our Bible, we also have a commandment from Jesus not to make His righteousness private.

The belief that does not save is the belief that does not change the person who believes. Jesus said that if you believe in Him, you would be changed
