God Loves To Save The Most Despicable Kinds Of People

Mercy Me

Matthew 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”

Mercy means to be gracious, to share, to bring help to those in need.  Everyone wants mercy rather than justice.  People throw themselves on the “mercy of the court” often when their case is hopeless.  People who are in desperate need of food, water, clothing, and shelter and cannot provide it for themselves cry out for the mercy of others to provide these for them.  For the most part, Americans have been “exceptionally merciful.”  All around the world when catastrophe strikes, Americans have typically been the first to give and the most generous givers.  Why is that?

I think it goes back to what our Lord taught us in Matthew 5:7.  He told us we would be blessed if we were merciful and we have been.  He told us we would receive mercy and we have and will in the age to come.  Many people around the world hate America.  Many see us as meddling in the affairs of their countries, invaders of their nations, “imperialists” who want only to conquer and take resources.  To them I would say “Don’t worry.  We will likely be out of the global picture shortly.”  And may God have mercy on them when we are no longer the super power we are today.

Our country continues to drift much like the Jewish nation of Israel throughout the Bible.  We are abandoning the Christian faith and adopting the ways of the world more and more.  We call ourselves Christians but we are becoming that in name only.  We are losing the battle to remain faithful to God and submissive to His word.  Much of the faith is being watered down and reinterpreted to fit a lifestyle of selfishness and comfort.  More and more we travel a dangerous path of making government our God who we expect to meet all our needs.  We forget that our rights come from God, not the congress, not the courts, not the chief executive.

I will take mercy over justice and grace over punishment any day of the week.  I serve a God who loves me and generously dispenses mercy and grace to all who will place their faith in His Son.  It is my prayer that you too will know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.  He gave mercy to me and He will freely give it to you.  The days of mercy are coming to a close as the end of this age rapidly approaches.  When this age ends, judgment will replace mercy.  Then it will be too late to say “Mercy Me.”

The belief that does not save is the belief that does not change the person who believes. Jesus said that if you believe in Him, you would be changed
